I often receive invites to connect with people on LinkedIn and they can be connected to my connections that I already have. Most of the time I accept these invites however I have to say moving forward I will be mindful of who I accept invites from on LinkedIn.
Below is an email that I received on LinkedIn after accepting an invite from a person I don’t even know.
LinkedIn is not a dating site it is a professional networking site and whilst the person acknowledges that and admits they don’t intend to use it as a dating or social networking site their email equals exactly that.
LinkedIn is an interesting choice for romance scammers because it’s not a dating site. It’s not even a social media site per se, rather it’s a place for building a community of professionals hoping to connect to opportunities in the business world.

The email below is not a compliment its sexual harassment on a professional networking site. My primary value as a person has nothing to do with the way I look and the email below devalues the person that I am.
For people out there who want to use LinkedIn as a dating site my advice is go join one, as that is what they are for!
I decided not to publicly name the person who sent me this message after connecting (now blocked) as they know who they are and rather than resorting to public humiliation I would prefer to educate in the hope that this behaviour is corrected and not repeated in future.

I must confess you are pretty and this is me being honest and not just mere flattery .I hope no offense is taken , i understand the medium is a business networking medium and not a dating or social networking website and i don't intend to use it for one .
You caught my eye , I am interested in communicating more and sharing more about me with you and hope to learn more about you too that is if you are single and interested in communicating further.I do believe everything is possible if we put our mind and heart together just like i believe that good things can be found in the least places.I do not just give out my personal details like email or phone numbers to people on linked-in or off it, but i am willing to make a compromise to communicate with you so here am I emailing you off the site because I really wanted to touch base with you.
